about

‘Skin & Bones’ is the third single by The Aluskas, a great rock ‘n’ roll band from Dublin, Ireland. The A-side is the groups’ heaviest song so far and features a throat-shredding vocal from guitarist Philip Tinsley who co-wrote it. The records disturbing sense of claustrophobia is heightened by insistent piano strikes, a coiling guitar riff and manic percussion work. The B-side, ‘Jump In The River’ is its polar opposite, the song’s jazzy overtones portraying The Aluskas ability to move comfortably between genres and is a perfectly wistful goodbye to the summer” (Make It Mag, Issue 4).

Track Name: Skin & Bones
SKIN & BONES
You’re just skin & bones
Brought in from the cold, singing your restless song
You’re back here again
Like a long lost friend, back where you belong

All your life you’re living in your old ways
All your life you’re playing out your old days

You speak in broken rhymes
Running out of time before the hangman’s call
You better run and hide
Forget that your pride comes before a fall

All your life you’re telling me the same tales
All your life you’re walking down the wrong trail

You never see the signs
Never open up your mind to see the path you’re on is broken
You never face the facts
Always turn your back on the words that you’ve just spoken
What waits for you now?

All your life I’ll never ever see you change
All your life you’ll always have someone to blame
All your life
All your life
All your life
Track Name: Jump In The River
JUMP IN THE RIVER
Leap from rock to rock across a stream
Jumping so long you’ve jumped a sea
You’ve been swimming in the sands of the sky
Dreaming a name in the night
Polluting the minds of the youth
I’ve been burned so I’m trying not to love you
All you look for is what there is to gain
Material possessions took you away

Well the moon it cried and the sun just sighed
And the birds they fell from the sky
We were breathing dreams
Living in the trees
So let’s jump in the river again

The brisk sweeping air fills the room
The dream-weavers’ looking for you
So while you listen for the sounds in the song?
Do you ever wonder where you have been for so long?
Does it get lonely down there?
By the river you shiver but dare
To lose yourself the way you lost me
I’ll meet you where the river meets the sea

Well the moon it cried and the sun just sighed
And the birds they fell from the sky
We were breathing dreams
We were living in the trees
So let’s jump in the river again

Hold on to the dreams of within
Listen to the song that they sing
When you’re banished will you fly far away?
To forget what you felt yesterday
